Choosing the Right Petunia
Petunias are one of the most popular bedding and pot flowers with shades of pink, purple, red, and white. Choose healthy plants with many buds instead of fully open flowers. Compact varieties are best for pots, while trailing ones suit hanging baskets.
Soil & Bed Preparation
Petunias love well-drained soil enriched with compost. A mix of garden soil, sand, and compost works well. Pots of 8–10 inches are good for single plants; hanging baskets can hold multiple.
Sunlight & Placement
They need full sunlight for at least 5–6 hours daily. More sunlight = more blooms. Perfect for balconies, terraces, and garden beds.
Watering & Care
Water when the topsoil feels dry. Avoid overwatering, as it causes root rot. Deadhead (remove faded flowers) regularly to keep new blooms coming.
