Choosing the Right Marigold
Marigolds are hardy, easy-to-grow plants with bright orange, yellow, and red blooms. Varieties include African (large flowers) and French (compact, bushy). Choose plants with multiple buds for longer flowering.
Soil & Bed Preparation
They thrive in almost any soil but prefer well-drained, sandy loam with compost. Garden beds or medium-sized pots (8–12 inches) both work well.
Sunlight & Placement
Marigolds love full sun. Give them 6–8 hours daily for best flowering. Great for borders, pots, and balcony displays.
Watering & Care
Water moderately — once or twice a week is enough. Overwatering leads to root rot and fewer flowers. Deadhead regularly to extend flowering.
Tools & Support
They don’t need much support but benefit from occasional pruning of dry leaves. Fertilize once a month with compost or a mild NPK feed.
Growth & Harvest
Marigolds bloom from summer to winter, depending on variety. Flowers are used for decoration, puja, and garlands. Easy to regrow each season from seeds.
