Learn More About Strawberry
Choosing the Right Strawberry Plant
Choose healthy strawberry runners (saplings). Select high-yielding varieties like Chandler or Sweet Charlie. Avoid plants with dry roots or yellow leaves.
Soil & Bed Preparation
Needs loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil (pH 5.5–6.5). Mix garden soil, compost, and cocopeat. Pots or grow bags of 8–10 inches are perfect.
Sunlight & Placement
Requires 5–6 hours of direct sunlight daily. Terraces, balconies, and raised beds are ideal. In very hot regions, provide afternoon shade.
Watering & Care
Keep soil evenly moist; don’t let it dry out. Water at soil level to avoid fungal infections on leaves. Mulch with straw to protect fruits from touching soil.
Tools & Fertilizers
Fertilize every 2 weeks with compost tea or liquid fertilizer. Use scissors to remove runners if you want bigger fruits. Keep leaves clean and pest-free with neem spray.
Growth & Harvest
Strawberries start fruiting in 3–4 months. Harvest when fruits turn bright red and soft. Pick daily during the fruiting season to enjoy fresh berries.
