Choosing the Right Rose
Mini and potted roses are perfect for balconies, windows, and small gardens. Always pick a plant with strong green stems and fresh leaves — avoid ones with yellow or droopy leaves. Nursery saplings are easier to grow than seeds.
Soil & Bed Preparation
Roses love rich, well-draining soil. A good mix is 1 part garden soil, 1 part compost, and 1 part cocopeat. Make sure your pot is at least 8–10 inches deep so the roots can spread properly. Slightly acidic soil (pH 6–6.5) is best.
Sunlight & Placement
Roses need 5–6 hours of sunlight every day. Keep them on a sunny balcony, terrace, or near a window with good light. If sunlight is only from one side, rotate the pot weekly so the plant grows evenly.
Watering & Care
Water your rose deeply 2–3 times a week, letting water soak into the roots. Avoid splashing water on leaves and flowers because it causes fungal disease. Always check the topsoil — if it feels dry, it’s time to water. Remove old, dried flowers to make space for new ones.
Tools & Support
Gloves and pruners are must-haves because of thorns. Add compost or rose fertilizer every 15–20 days during the growing season. Use neem oil spray to keep away pests like aphids and spider mites.
Growth & Harvest
Mini roses bloom best in late winter and spring. Prune once a year to remove old stems and encourage fresh growth. Cut flowers early in the morning — they last longer in water. Regular care ensures blooms keep coming.
