Learn More About Calendula Mix
Choosing the Right Calendula
Calendula is a cheerful winter flower that comes in shades of yellow and orange. Choose strong seedlings with lots of buds rather than fully open blooms. It’s easy to grow from seeds too, and flowers quickly.
Soil & Bed Preparation
Calendula likes well-drained, fertile soil. Mix garden soil, compost, and a little sand for good drainage. Pots of 8–10 inches are fine for compact growth.
Sunlight & Placement
Needs 4–6 hours of sunlight daily. Place outdoors on balconies or gardens for best blooms. Too much shade reduces flowering.
Watering & Care
Water regularly to keep the soil slightly moist, but don’t overwater. Pinch off spent flowers to extend blooming. Calendula tolerates a bit of cold and is low-maintenance.
Tools & Support
Light pruning helps keep plants neat and bushy. Fertilize every 2–3 weeks with compost or a mild liquid feed. Check for aphids during flowering and treat with neem spray if needed.
Growth & Harvest
Calendula blooms through winter and early spring. Flowers are long-lasting and can even be used in herbal teas or skincare. Collect seeds after the season to replant next year.
