Learn More About Snake Plant
Choosing the Right Plant
Snake plant is one of the hardiest indoor plants. It has tall, sword-shaped leaves with yellow or green variegation. Always pick a plant with firm, upright leaves (not mushy or bent).
Soil & Potting Mix
Needs sandy, well-drained soil. Mix garden soil + sand + cocopeat in equal parts. A shallow but wide pot with drainage is best.
Sunlight & Placement
Thrives in low light, bright light, or even some sun — very adaptable. Perfect for bedrooms, offices, and living rooms. Avoid harsh afternoon sunlight indoors.
Watering & Care
Water only when soil is completely dry (every 2–3 weeks). In winter, water once a month. Overwatering causes root rot. Wipe leaves occasionally to remove dust.
Tools, Fertilizers & Maintenance
Minimal tools needed. Fertilize once every 2 months during summer with mild liquid feed. Repot only when roots outgrow the pot.
Benefits & Growth
Excellent at absorbing toxins (formaldehyde, benzene). Releases oxygen at night, making it perfect for bedrooms. Slow grower but lives for many years with little care.
