Learn More About Peperomia
Choosing the Right Plant
Peperomia is a compact, low-maintenance houseplant with thick, fleshy leaves in many patterns (green, red, variegated). Choose bushy plants with firm, plump leaves. It’s perfect for desks, shelves, and small spaces.
Soil & Potting Mix
Peperomia loves well-draining, light soil. Mix garden soil, cocopeat, and perlite in equal parts. Small pots (6–8 inches) with drainage holes are enough, as roots are shallow.
Sunlight & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium to low light, but leaf colors stay brighter in good light. Avoid harsh sun that scorches leaves.
Watering & Care
Water once a week or when the topsoil feels dry. Leaves store some water, so it tolerates slight dryness. Overwatering causes root rot — that’s the main danger.
Tools, Fertilizers & Maintenance
Fertilize once a month with diluted liquid fertilizer in the growing season. Trim dead leaves to keep the plant neat. Repot only when roots fill the pot.
Benefits & Growth
Peperomia helps clean indoor air and adds charm with its decorative leaves. It stays compact, making it ideal for small apartments and offices. Very easy for beginners.
