Learn More About Spider Plant
Choosing the Right Plant
Spider plants have arching green-and-white striped leaves and produce baby plantlets (“spiders”). Pick bushy plants with fresh leaves.
Soil & Potting Mix
They like light, well-draining soil. Mix garden soil + compost + sand. Medium-sized pots (8–10 inches) are perfect.
Sunlight & Placement
Grow best in bright, indirect light. They tolerate low light but grow faster in brighter spots. Excellent for hanging baskets indoors.
Watering & Care
Water 2–3 times a week or whenever topsoil feels dry. Mist occasionally to keep leaves fresh. Avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Tools, Fertilizers & Maintenance
Fertilize once a month with a balanced liquid feed. Trim brown leaf tips regularly. Repot when plant becomes root-bound.
Benefits & Growth
One of the best plants for removing carbon monoxide and formaldehyde. Grows fast and produces many baby plants that can be propagated easily.
